YAVAPAI COLLEGE ADMISSIONS

        All students must register through the Yavapai College general admissions office. You can register online, get information and more by clicking the link to the right.

GUNSMITHING SCHOOL APPLICATION

        
A special application is required for admission to the Gunsmithing Program. This application must be received in the Gunsmithing Department no later than August 1st in order to be considered for admission in the Fall semester. Admission to Yavapai College does not guarantee admission to the Gunsmithing Program.

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO GUNSMITHING PROGRAM

1. REQUIREMENTS

A. Must be a high school graduate or hold a GED.
B. Must complete the application process and meet all deadlines.
C. Degree seeking students must take the Compass placement test.
D. Must complete a health history.
E. Must obtain three supportive references.

2. APPLICATION PROCESS

A. Submit application to Yavapai College to the registrar's office by August 1 for fall admission.
B. Provide OFFCIAL high school transcript or GED certificate to the Gunsmithing Department.
C. Provide current OFFICIAL College transcripts for all course work relevant to the Gunsmithing Program taken at other colleges or universities.
D. The applicant is responsible to make sure all required materials are received by the Gunsmithing Department by the stated deadline. Applicants are encouraged to verify with the Gunsmithing Department that materials have been received, (928) 717-7720, division assistant.

3. SELECTION PROCESS

A. Only applicants who have completed the above application process by the stated deadlines will be considered for admission to the Gunsmithing Program for the following Fall semester
B. Applicants whose letters of reference are not positive may not be considered or may be asked to provide additional supporting materials.

4. ADMISSION TO THE GUNSMITHING PROGRAM

Admission to the Gunsmithing Program is granted by selecting the applicants upon completed applications. Applicants selection status notifications will be mailed by August 1 for Fall admission, pending all paperwork and entrance exams have been received.

5. DEFERRED ENTRANCE

Applicants who are accepted into the Gunsmithing Program may choose to defer entering for one year. These applicants will be guaranteed admission for the following year only, but must submit a new gunsmithing application form by August 1 for Fall entry.

6. KEEPING YOUR FILE UP-TO-DATE

It is the responsibility of the applicant to be sure that the Gunsmithing Department has been informed of all changes of importance, such as a name change, a change of address, a new telephone number, etc. Be sure to inform the Gunsmithing Department directly, even if you have already informed other college departments.

7. RE-APPLICATION

Applicants who are not admitted may re-apply the following year, following the above process. The Gunsmithing Department does not maintain a waiting list from one year to the next.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE

1. The Gunsmithing Department will ONLY evaluate applicant's folder when all required materials have been submitted and file is complete.

2. When accepted into the Gunsmithing Program your acceptance agreement and health history must be returned to the Gunsmithing Department by the designated due date.

3. Gunsmithing students must arrange to have tools and supplies available for use by the first day of class.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

      All required courses for the A.A.S. Degree must be completed with at least a grade of "C" or "S".

DISABILITIES SUPPORT SERVICES

      Yavapai College is committed to providing educational support services to students with documented disabilities. The student is responsible for notifying their counselor of any disabilities a minimum of 4-6 weeks before beginning the Gunsmithing Program. Academic support services may include: professional tutoring special testing, arrangements and technological aid. Please be advised that there are some courses in the Gunsmithing Program that are not able to accommodate wheelchair accessibility. Gunsmithing students must be able to demonstrate that they are capable of participating in all program activities.

RE-ENTERING THE GUNSMITHING PROGRAM

1. Re-Entering students (not enrolled in Gunsmithing courses in the previous semester) must comply with the current catalog. Completion of a current Gunsmithing application.

2. Graduates of the new Gunsmithing Program will be required to submit a new application prior to enrolling in additional Gunsmithing courses.

WUE PROGRAM

       Yavapai College is now participating in the Western Undergraduate Exchange States program (WUE). If a student is registered for 10 credits the cost will be $740. The following states are included in the program:
